Grants to go out to 36 Illinois businesses

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) has announced that three dozen additional Back to Business (B2B) grants have recently been awarded, with the lion’s share of them going to Madison County endeavors.

Of the 36 latest grants, 33 have been awarded to businesses in Madison County along with two in Jersey County and one in Greene County. These last three dozen grants bring the totals up to 2,913 grants totaling over $111m since the first round of grants were awarded in September 2020.

The Edwardsville Arts Center, Comfort Inn, and Towneplace Suites are all on the latest list of grant recipients.

Print shops are frequently called upon to help businesses reintroduce themselves to the public.

The B2B grant program will in total provide $250m to small businesses from the American Rescue Plan Act. The money is to be used to cover operating costs, rehire staff, and enable further customer safety precautions.

In the announcement, Governor J. B. Pritzker remarked:

“These are not loans, so businesses getting help won’t owe a cent back to the state.”

According to state officials the awarding of grants will continue until all of the $250m is dispensed. Businesses and organizations will be notified over the next few weeks of their application status until all the funds have been allocated.

Grants are based on the pandemic-induced losses of each business and range from a maximum of $250,000 down to $5,000.
