Edwardsville to host 100-year history banquet
The Illinois State Historical Society has announced it will host its annual Centennial Awards banquet in Edwardsville this year.
The event, which takes place in August, attracts local business leaders and makes for a good opportunity for networking. Print companies will no doubt be helping firms organize their business card printing needs ahead of the event.
Now in its 32nd year, the awards were first established in 1982 to reward businesses in the state with 100 years or more of continuous operation. In the three decades since, more than 1,100 plaques have been handed to the Illinois business community.
It is the first time the awards banquet has been held in Edwardsville though, with the Superintendent for the Madison County Historical Museum in the city explaining she has long been trying to get the society to host it here.
Suzanne Dietrich explained:
Guests at the August 16 event will be served a catered luncheon ahead of the awards presentation.
The banquet will take place at the Lewis & Clark Community College. Running from 11:00 am through 3:00 pm, the Leclaire Room, part of the N.O. Nelson Complex, will be used for the event.
Nominations for the awards can be sent to the society up until the end of this month.

“I’ve been working to get the state organization down to Edwardsville and it always seems like it goes north.”
