What's Happening in Edwardsville, IL…

Edwardsville is the site of a CNG fueling station

Edwardsville will soon host a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station. According to a June 10, 2015 news item, U.S. Gain, a division of U.S. Venture of Appleton, Wisconsin, has partnered with consumer goods giant Unilever to build the facility.

The station will proved GAINĀ® clean fuel to Unilever fleet vehicles. Compressed natural gas saves over a third of the cost of traditional diesel fuels, and is more environmentally friendly.

Unilever is committed to reducing its environmental impact, and the station in Edwardsville contributes to the company's commitment to sustainability, as well as providing a strategically-located fuel stop for its carriers. The agreement between U.S. Gain and Unilever calls for the latter to buy 800,000 gallons of GAINĀ® Clean Fuel CNG annually.

Bill Renz, U.S. Gain's general manager, says he is excited to partner with Unilever to help the giant corporation achieve its goals of environmental stewardship and responsibility. For its part, Unilever's Camille Chammas says the company has made large investments to lower its environmental impact by reducing its waste, emissions of carbon dioxide, and water usage. The use of U.S. Gain's Clean Fuel is part of the effort.

The fueling station, thought to be the largest of its type U.S. Gain has built, is to be located on Lakeview Corporate Drive.

Edwardsville officials might consider working with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents introducing the fuel station.
