Edwardsville city announces plans to get artful
Once again, the City of Edwardsville Parks & Recreation Department is organizing an art competition for local children.
Children between Kindergarten and 6th grade age are invited to participate in a Holiday Art Contest. This year, the event is sponsored by First Clover Leaf Bank.
To enter, participants need to color in, draw, or paint a themed picture, which needs to be no larger than 12 x 14 inches. This year, the themes for the artwork include celebrating the holidays at Leclaire Park or City Park, as well as with the family.
Local schools will be made aware of the event to encourage children to participate. Poster printing services are often used to help to advertise such community events, ensuring that parents are as aware of the competition as their children.
Three winners from each grade will be selected and be given a Target gift card. First prize is a $15 voucher, second for $10, and third is for $5.
The winners will have their artwork displayed in the window of City Hall between December 17, 2014 and January 2, 2015. This year, the artwork will also be available to view on the Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
Submissions should be sent to or dropped off at the Santa House in City Park. The closing date for submissions is Monday, December 15.
