What's Happening in Edwardsville, IL…

Country-rock band coming to Edwardsville

A band that's still rocking after decades is coming to Edwardsville.

Firefall first got together in 1974 in Colorado. Most of the original members already knew one another, though they played in different bands. The founders were Rick Roberts, who came from the Flying Burrito Brothers; and Jock Bartley, from Zephyr. They were joined by Larry Burnett, Mark Andes, and Michael Clark.

The band took its name from a practice, now discontinued, that took place every summer evening in Yosemite National Park. A huge bonfire was built on top of Glacier Point, and then pushed over the cliff to the cry of “Let the fire fall.” Roberts saw the Yosemite Firefall and suggested the name for the group.

In their long career, Firefall has had three albums reach Gold status; two certified Platinum, and put 12 singles on the charts. Firefall's biggest hit is “You Are the Woman,” which has been used in films and television shows, and played over seven million times on commercial radio. They have toured extensively with bands such as ELO, Journey, and Fleetwood Mac.

A review says:

“This was the second time I have seen Firefall this year. Their songs have staying power and their performance is filled with energy. . . . I would go see them every time they are in my area. . . .”

Firefall will be at the Wildey Theatre on October 23, at 8.00 pm. Poster printing is often used to publicize events like this.
