What's Happening in Edwardsville, IL…

Classic rock in Edwardsville

A tribute band with a special twist will appear in Edwardsville.

The Artimus Pyle Band is presenting their concert, “A Night of Lynyrd Skynyrd.” The reason the event is special is because Pyle was the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd at two different times, from 1974 to 1977, and again from 1987 to 1991. Pyle left Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1991, but expresses his gratitude to Ronnie Van Zant, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s lead singer, saying that if not for Ronnie’s influence, nobody would know Pyle’s name.

Pyle got his first break at the Volunteer Jam, when he was with the Charlie Daniels band. He also worked with the Marshall Tucker Band, and his connections to those outfits gave him a reputation as a solid session drummer and brought him to Van Zant’s notice. He made his debut with Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1974 in Jacksonville, Florida, at Sgt. Pepper’s Club.

Since going out on his own, he has enjoyed great success, working on solo records and other projects until his efforts led him to create a tribute to his old outfit. The Artimus Pyle Band performs all the Lynyrd Skynyrd hits in the same style as the original. Poster printing can successfully advertise events like this. A concert review says:

“. . . it was a great night of non-stop, good for the soul, southern rock, played by the last of the greats.”

The Artimus Pyle Band will be at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville on June 18 at 8:00 pm.
