Chili cook-off coming to Edwardsville
Recess Brewing is getting ready to host a chili cooking contest with beer sampling to benefit the animals at Metro East Humane Society (MEHS). The benefit will be held at Edwardsville's Knights of Columbus.
Among the groups hoping to earn bragging rights about their chili are a number of police and fire departments including the Edwardsville Police Department, the Maryville Fire Department, the Hamel Fire Department, and Madison County Animal Care and Control.
Chili is not the only thing on the menu, as home-brewed beers will also be available for tasting. The beers will be provided courtesy of about 15 home brewers. The home beer makers will be joined by the Hopskeller Brewing Company and the Old Bakery Beer Company. Events like this can be enhanced if organizers use banner printing to create decorations.
Entertainment on tap includes music from Mark London's Rock 'n Roll Review, merchandise for sale from the shelter, and raffles. Tickets can be purchased online, and are on sale now. The tickets are $15 for the chili tasting, $20 to sample the beer, and $30 to try both. All proceeds go the humane society and its mission to find forever homes for the cats and dogs in its care.
The cook-off is set for February 24th from 1.00 pm until 4.00 pm, at Edwardsville’s Knights of Columbus. There is still room for people who'd like to join the cook-off.
