Brazilian coffee roaster opens in Edwardsville

Brazilian coffee roaster Minas Espresso Inc. recently opened its doors to the public.

Minas offers decaffeinated, medium, and dark roasted coffee, which is available as either whole beans or ground coffee, and can be purchased either online, or at Minas's main office.

The company takes its name from Minas Gerais, the largest state in Brazil, which grows one-quarter of all the coffee in the world. The company was founded by Benedito Nobre, a farmer, in Minas Gerais, and today the primary owner of the company is Benedito's grandson, Bruno Nobre. He plans to carry on the family legacy.

Brazilian coffee is some of the best in the world, due mainly to the fact that it is made from Arabica beans. The bean, which is a green color, has a fruity odor and is fragrant even before roasting. It is more flavorful and less bitter than other varieties, and Minas Espresso will be offering only Arabica beans.

Bruno Nobre says he values his grandfather's legacy greatly, and has extended this to the way Minas does business. They are using only beans produced using Fair Trade practices, and one of the company's highest priorities is forging positive relationships between local business in the United States and the Brazilian farmers.

Businesses like this might consider distributing promotional products to customers for some period of time after they open to build brand recognition.
