Artistic attraction opens this month
The Edwardsville Art Fair, a juried exhibition that takes place in downtown Edwardsville's City Park, is now just weeks away.
The fair will feature original works by about 100 artists, as well as drinks and food provided by local sources. If the weather does not cooperate, the fair will move inside, into the gymnasiums of the Edwardsville High School.
Visitors can enjoy the art up close, and purchase items they desire. Children will be able to make their own art projects and take them home, thanks to the fair's ‘Create IT and Take IT’ section. Materials will be provided free to the young artists.
All the artists have donated one piece of their work to the gallery specifically for children to purchase. Any child who wants to buy a piece can do so for $50, offering a way to introduce youngsters to the world of art, and perhaps encourage a budding collector.
Fair organizers could work with a banner printing company to create colorful streamers to add to the fun.
The fair runs September 25th through 27th. Hours are from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on the 25th, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on the 26th, and 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on the 27th. The gallery for children to buy art will be open only on Saturday, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Likewise, the Create IT and Take IT activities are only available on Saturday and Sunday.
