What's Happening in Edwardsville, IL…

A birthday party for Edwardsville Arts

An Edwardsville organization is having a birthday and inviting the community to the party.

The Edwardsville Art Center is turning 20 and is thrilled to share the day. For two decades, the EAC has been supporting Edwardsville through classes, exhibits, creative programming, an art fair, and more. Organizers also note that without the reciprocal support of the community, they would not now be celebrating.

The guest of honor is Donna Raedeke, the center’s co-founder, who is being named Patron of the Arts. The center is also planning an auction featuring the work of 20 local artists, who are donating their original artwork. Events like this are a great opportunity for people to exchange business cards.

The center provides a large variety of programs including educational classes for both adults and children in various mediums. They also regularly present from 8-10 exhibitions in both their student and professional galleries, as well as a gallery shop where visitors may purchase gifts made by the artists.

The center also hosts events, including the annual Edwardsville Art Fair, where 100 juried artists appear, and live music is performed on the park stage. The EAC has as its mission offering cultural experiences to people in the Metro-East area.

The center notes that the past year has been exceptionally difficult on arts organizations and asks that, if possible, people consider making a donation to continue supporting the EAC.

The party is set for August 1, from 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm.
