Twist on classic Christmas story comes to Crystal Lake.
A Cripple Creek Christmas Carol, an adaptation of Charles Dickens' famous holiday story, will come to the stage in Crystal Lake next month.
Live theater lovers will see and hear a new take on the classic spirit of Christmas story. The play’s backdrop is the gold mining town of Cripple Creek, Colorado where the town founder invites Dickens to come to the rescue of Gooch, the avaricious mine owner. Similar to the original story, Gooch meets the holiday ghosts of the past, present, and future who, in their own way, influence a sharp change in his attitude.
The family-friendly show will include comedy and original songs full of Christmas spirit. It will be presented by the Raue Center School for the Arts. The non-profit organization is dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to arts education and live performances, even if they cannot afford the fees. Through fundraisers and sponsors, the center is able to provide free or discounted performance tickets, as well as art scholarships and other financial assistance. Non-profit groups such as this often look to local print shops for their advertising and promotional needs.
A Cripple Creek Christmas Carol will be presented at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake on the evenings of December 4 to 7, with matinees on select days. Further information, including show times and tickets, is available on the theater website.
