Find beer in woods near Crystal Lake
Beer lovers who enjoy getting close to nature will gather next month for the Great Outdoors Beer Trail in McHenry County.
The event is presented by the McHenry County Conservation District, which oversees more than 25,000 acres of area woodlands, wetlands, prairies and waterways.
As many as 20 different brewers from the region will offer samples of their craft beer creations along a one-mile wooded and paved trail through the Fel Pro RRR (rest, relaxation and recreation) Conservation Area. The location provides a range of recreational opportunities while ensuring protection of areas of natural habitat and the species that call it home.
Along the designated trail, attendees can also stop for lawn games, listen to music or visit one of a number of local food trucks. The event is open to those aged 21 and over and dogs will be welcome as long as they are leashed. The trail area will be closed to all other users during the beer tasting event.
Tickets include beer tastings and a commemorative glass and reduced tickets for non-alcoholic beverages will be available for designated drivers. Organizers of events such as this often use printing services for their tickets and other promotional materials.
The Great Outdoors Beer Trail will be held on September 20, 2025 from 1 to 5 pm at the conservation area, 1520 Crystal Lake Road.
