Flowers, vegetables, herbs and other plants will be celebrated at the third annual All-Things Seed and Soil event in Crystal Lake.
Presented by the Center for Agrarian Learning at McHenry County College, it will appeal to everyone from experienced green thumbs to the casual backyard gardener.
All Things Seed and Soil is just one of many activities in the state that feature a seed exchange. Getting together to trade and share seeds has become a tradition amongst gardeners since a national seed swap day was first celebrated in 2006. Plant varieties that may have become extinct can be given new life as seeds are introduced to new gardens.
The gathering has grown this year to include the soil aspect of gardening, and will feature an expanded number of guest speakers as well as kids’ activities, raffles and a wide array of vendors featuring seeds, gardening supplies and horticultural information.
Businesses and non-profits are encouraged to get involved as sponsors. Those who take advantage of the opportunity to participate will have their logo included on signage, Posters, and on social media. Organizers of these types of events often use area Print shops for their Logo Design services.
All Things Seed and Soil will be held on Saturday, February 7 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the cafeteria at McHenry County College. Admission is free.
