Tribute to great band coming to Crystal Lake
Tribute bands help keep the music of major groups alive, even if the original band is no longer performing. One such band will be in Crystal Lake soon to pay homage to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSN&Y).
The Laurel Canyon Band recreates the most famous and lasting songs from CSN&Y's career. The group takes its name from the Laurel Canyon neighborhood in Hollywood, California, which was known as an artists' haven. Among those who lived in or visited Laurel Canyon were Carole King, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, and Glenn Frey, as well as CSN&Y band members Stephen Stills, David Crosby, and Graham Nash.
The original band comprised Crosby, Stills, and Nash, with Neil Young joining later, and remaining a member intermittently. All the founding members came from other groups: Crosby had been with the Byrds; Stills with Buffalo Springfield; and Nash with The Hollies. Among their familiar hits are “Marrakesh Express” and “Our House.”
The Laurel Canyon Band is comprised of singer/songwriter Mark Mirando; Gary Burr, a Hall of Fame Songwriter; and writer/produce Mark Hudson, who has won a Grammy.
The Laurel Canyon Band will be at the Raue Center for the Arts from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm on the evening of Saturday, March 7. Poster printing is often used to advertise events like this.
