Three Oaks to get new food vendor
Crystal Lake officials are looking for a new vendor to operate a restaurant at the Three Oaks Recreation Area. Seven restaurants have submitted proposals, and the village will decide by the end of the month who will take over the concessions previously run by Culver’s.
Culver’s has changed hands, and the new owners, who run the main location on Pingree Road, have received approval to build a new Culver’s a short distance away from the Pingree Road location, which they plan to close. Since they are reopening a larger venue, they are no longer interested in the waterfront concession stand.
Once the village learned of the decision, it issued a request for proposals from area restaurants to take over the operation, garnering seven results. Heather Maieritsch, the village’s economic development manager, said interested parties include both national chains and local restaurants, both of which already operate in Crystal Lake. This means that the operator will be familiar to diners, no matter who is chosen. Maieritsch added that village officials have met with all the applicants, and are now reviewing the proposals.
It’s likely that the issue will be discussed at the upcoming council meeting, once evaluations are finished. According to Maieritsch, it has not been determined how many applications will be considered by the entire council.
In situations like this, a new operator might contact a printer to help in logo design for the new location.
