Raue Center offers wide-ranging February frolics
The Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, has a list of events for the month of February that will no doubt keep locals’ calendars busy.
Among the highlights are a concert by Richard Marx, the multi-platinum singer/songwriter who began his career in the 1980s with hits like ‘Hold onto the Nights’, and ‘Keep Coming Back’. Over the almost 30 years Marx has been writing, performing, and producing his music, he has had a total of 14 singles hit number one. Perhaps most fittingly of all for this venue, Marx is a native of Chicago.
Also on tap is a send-up of the popular television show ‘Sex and the City’. The spoof, entitled ‘One Woman Sex and the City: A Parody of Love, Friendship and Shoes’, treats audiences to a look back every season of the show. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte, and other characters will be brought to life to enjoy brunch, trade wisecracks, support each other, and drool over men and stilettos. The comedy is full of cosmopolitans and puns, and audience members will have a chance to participate.
Marx appears on February 17 at 8:00 pm. ‘One Woman Sex and the City’ is on show the following night, February 18, also at 8:00 pm.
Venues like this can benefit if management works with a poster printing company, which can create colorful posters for each production. They can be offered for sale and make great souvenirs.
