Retro Bistro, a popular restaurant that has been serving diners for 26 years in Mount Prospect, has opened a second location in Crystal Lake.
The new venue features rustic décor with both booths and tables available, and the menu features many of the same classic French dishes as the flagship restaurant. In addition, the bistro offers contemporary French dishes.
Favorites include an artisan cheeseboard, steak au poivre, a charcuterie board, and confit of duck salad. Other traditional choices include escargot de Burgundy, and duck liver mousse pâté. Diners who prefer more contemporary fare might select tuna tartare deviled eggs or braised short rib won-tons. Desserts include more classics, such as profiteroles au chocolat or limoncello cake.
The bistro features tables covered with white linen cloths. The walls, which are exposed brick, feature works of art that depict rustic scenes. The kitchen is being run by Chef Chris Barth, who learned his skills in Paris and ran the original Bistro’s kitchen.
Retro Bistro is open for lunch from Tuesday through Friday, 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Dinner is served Sunday from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
