New organization launches in Crystal Lake
A new non-profit group is getting off the ground in Crystal Lake and throwing a party to do so.
The One Million Monarchs 1st Annual Butterfly Ball is the event that will launch One Million Monarchs, a local non-profit organization. The organization’s mission is to help support grieving high schoolers who have lost a sibling, parent, or close friend by encouraging personal growth and open expression. The organization also seeks to support parents who are grieving, and to help provide resources to offset some of the financial difficulties associated with loss.
A bereavement in childhood can have a profound and long-lasting impact on the child. In Illinois, about 1 in 16 children will suffer such a loss. One Million Monarchs wants to create awareness of the issue and make certain children receive the trauma-informed, grief-focused resources that will allow them to grow and thrive as they process the trauma.
A cocktail reception starts the evening and will be rapidly followed by One Million Monarch’s special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Tickets include dinner with the patron’s choice of a vegan dish, salmon, or filet mignon, along with live music, dancing, raffles, an open bar, and a live auction. Organizers of an event such as this could use brochure printing to create a pamphlet explaining the company’s mission.
