Mariano's now open in Crystal Lake
The first Mariano's in McHenry County opened recently in Crystal Lake, to such enthusiasm that the store opened its doors 15 minutes ahead of schedule. The gesture was to say thanks to the customers who had lined up outside to be the first to shop at the specialty grocery.
The store enjoyed a steady stream of customers throughout the day, and the parking lot was almost always full. Two police cars helped direct traffic on Route 14, and all went well from the early opening at 5:45 am until about 9:00 am, then the lot filled up, as everyone seemed to want to shop at the same time, according to James Black, the police chief.
Mariano's director of strategic brand development, Amanda Puck, said the shoppers were excited and very pleasant, and liked the unique products the store offers. She said they really appreciated the fact they got to try samples before buying.
Talking to NWHerald.com, Crystal Lake resident Betty Dietrich said she had difficulty finding a spot to park at 2:30 pm, but she was not upset because the prepared meals were healthy. She added the store seemed well prepared to handle the onslaught of customers, and believes the location will be successful. Dietrich also liked the fact that Mariano's has a wide selection of products to meet different dietary needs.
New businesses like this can help customers by working with a flyer printing company to create a handout for customers, giving information about their products.
