Irish group to perform in Crystal Lake
The widely-acclaimed Irish quintet Goitse will be performing in Crystal Lake this March. This performance will take place at the Raue Center for the Arts.
The performances of Goitse consist of traditional Irish tunes as well as those of other countries on top of their own compositions. They have released four recordings to great critical acclaim and have gone on tour in several countries including the UK, France, Germany, and the United States.
The group has also garnered several awards and praises. These include being named "Group of the Year" by Chicago Irish American News and "Traditional Group of the Year" by Live Ireland. They have also won the "Freiburger International Leiter 2016" award in Germany.
Several performers within the group also have won achievements of their own. Colm Phelan has won the All Ireland award in Letterkenny twice and was the first ever World Bodhran Champion. Áine McGreeney was awarded 'Female Vocalist of 2016' by the Irish American News. Tadhg Ó Meachair has won the All Ireland Award for piano.
