Hypnotic improv in Crystal Lake
What might ensue if people are hypnotized, then invited to perform improv skits? Audiences in Crystal Lake are about to find out.
HYPROV: Improv Under Hypnosis, is the brainchild of Colin Mochrie, who stars in the hit show “Whose Line Is It, Anyway?” The long-running program began as a British radio show that moved to television in 1988. When the UK run ended in 1999, the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) began carrying the show, which was on the network until 2007. The CW picked it up again in 2013.
In each version of the show, a panel comprising four performers creates songs, scenes, and characters they make up on the spot, based either on suggestions from the audience, or prompts by the show's host. Mochrie has been with the show since 1988, both on ABC and The CW.
At the upcoming live show, volunteers from the audience will be hypnotized by Master Hypnotist Asad Mecci. There will be 20 volunteers initially, who will then be reduced to the best five. These five will then create improv scenes along with Colin Mochrie, all while still under hypnosis. The tagline for the event is “What can possibly go wrong?”
A no doubt extremely wacky evening of comedy is scheduled for November 7, from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the Raue Center. Brochure printing can provide programs for events like this.
