Holiday concert comes to Crystal Lake
A special concert will kick off the holidays in Crystal Lake.
The Elgin Symphony Orchestra (ESO) will present its “Elgin Symphony Holiday Spectacular” at the Raue Center for the Arts, offering a program of holiday classics suitable for audiences of all ages. Along with the orchestra, the Elgin Master Chorale will perform, and soprano Katelyn Lee is the soloist on the program. Stephen Squires will be on the podium.
The Elgin Symphony Orchestra was founded by Douglas Steensland in 1950, when it was located at Elgin Community College. In 1971, Margaret Hillis, a multi-Grammy winner who created the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and was the first woman ever to conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, was named the ESO's Music Director. Her appointment helped the orchestra grow artistically, and by 1985, the ESO was a completely professional group. It has been named Orchestra of the Year four times by the Illinois Council of Orchestras, and is the first ensemble to achieve this.
Katelyn Lee is a professional opera singer who often performs in Chicago and around the country, taking roles in musicals, operas, and performing as a soloist at concerts. She is on the faculty of the Music Institute of Chicago, where she teaches voice.
The fun concert is set for December 11, at 8:00 pm, at the Raue Center. Brochure printing can be used to create attractive and informative programs for events like this, often including information about the performers.
