What's Happening in Crystal Lake, IL…

Four days of Independence Day celebrations in Crystal Lake

The historic Dole Mansion and Lakeside Arts Park in Crystal Lake will be the venue for the Lakeside Festival, one of the biggest summer celebrations in the county.

The Dole, as it is now known, is a historic building that dates back to Victorian times when it was the home of a prominent grain dealer and ice harvester. It was once a golf course clubhouse, a chapel and a daycare, before the Lakeside Legacy Foundation formed and raised enough money to buy and preserve the property, preventing demolition and redevelopment.

The Lakeside Festival is a four-day event on the Independence Day weekend and is a major fundraiser for area education, arts, and community programs. In partnership with the City of Crystal Lake, the Dole Mansion festival committee assists in presenting other events in conjunction with a July 4th parade and fireworks display.

The festival will feature live music by 14 bands on multiple stages, as well as midway games and carnival rides, kids’ activities, food and beverages. Businesses who participate in and sponsor large events such as this frequently use print shops to create promotional materials.

The Lakeside Festival will be held July 3 to 6 at 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake, open each day from noon to 11:00 pm, except Sunday when it closes at 10:00 pm. A full schedule of festival activities is available on the Dole Mansion website.
