Light displays, a parade, and visits from Santa will bring warmth and a festive spirit to Crystal Lake throughout December.
The annual Festival of Lights Parade starts the holiday season with its festive floats and displays that illuminate the streets of town. This year, the theme is “Wish You Were Here: An Island Christmas”, featuring palm trees and tropical music as part of the nighttime event.
In addition, more than 40 brightly decorated trees turn Depot Park into a wonderland. Called Christmas Tree Lane, the display is the work of several local organizations who individualize each of the trees. Surrounding sidewalks will be lit with luminary candles on Thursdays, creating a warm festive glow for shoppers to enjoy.
The highlight for youngsters is Santa House in the Brink Street Market, where families can have photos taken while children make their wishes known. Santa will be in attendance Thursdays to Sundays in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
The holiday events are presented by Downtown Crystal Lake, a non-profit organization that works to promote and enhance a vibrant downtown core. Groups such as this frequently use printing services as part of advertising and branding for their member businesses.
The festive season officially begins in downtown Crystal Lake with the annual parade on Friday, November 29, at 7:00 pm. More information, including a schedule of events, can be found on the organization’s website.
