Crystal Lake welcomes secondhand shop
Crystal Lake is now the home of Bella Blu, a consignment shop owned by Cheryl Strom.
The store is on Main Street in the city's downtown. Strom realized she wanted to run a consignment shop several years ago, when she visited one and decided the concept was for her.
After that, she began researching the way in which consignment shops operate, and started collecting items. However, her biggest challenge was finding premises that fit both her business vision, and her needs as a startup entrepreneur. She decided on the Main Street location because the building, which is at number 129, is over 90 years old, and provides the charm and character she wanted.
She stocked the store with soaps, candles, gifts, and other home décor items, which she believed would appeal to a wide variety of customers, in addition to those who want to consign items. Strom notes that her store offers décor and furniture at reasonable prices, so that customers can decorate their homes at significantly less cost than they would if they purchased everything new.
She also felt there was enough room in Crystal Lake and the surrounding area for another consignment venture so that her store could be a success.
