Crystal Lake welcomes new superstore
Steinhafels, a furniture superstore, is on its way to Crystal Lake, where it will open its 18th location in the Northern Illinois/Wisconsin area.
A family-owned business that was founded in 1934, Steinhafels sells home décor and home furnishings to meet a variety of budgets and tastes, and is the most popular furniture retailer in Wisconsin.
The Crystal Lake store will be only the second Steinhafels' location in Illinois. The company is opening at 5846 Northwest Highway, in a shopping center owned by IRC Retail Centers. IRC is investing a substantial amount in rebuilding and refreshing the space the store will occupy. It will have a footprint of 99,089 square feet, and should be open by fall, 2018, bringing 50 new jobs with it.
As the shopping center's owner and manager, IRC says it is committed to improving the communities where it locates, and is particularly concerned about the environment. IRC aims to conserve both water and energy, and recycles as much material as it can. One example of the organization's philosophy is the fact that it conserves water by landscaping with indigenous plants that survive on the rain that falls in the area where the center is located.
