Crystal Lake welcomes new boutique for children
Green Sprouts, a boutique selling children's clothing, recently opened in Crystal Lake. The retailer was welcomed last month by the Chamber of Commerce, which staged a ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of the new store.
The store has been a long-time dream of Tracy and Brooks Greene, who have three children. The Greens won a $10,000 grant from Crystal Lake's city council to help them establish their enterprise. The grant is part of the city's ‘New Retailer Job Creation and Investment Program’.
At the moment, the Greens plan to sell unique, exclusive, and high-quality clothing for children ages six and under. They hope to expand their product lines to include clothing for older children, as well as gifts, accessories, and additional items. The Greens have spent nearly $25,000 on new equipment, fixtures and furnishings for the shop, which comprises 1,600 square feet.
James Richter II, who is manager of planning and economic development for Crystal Lake, said the city is excited to have a high-quality store carrying children's clothing join the ranks of downtown retailers. He believes Green Sprouts will add to the area's success.
The Greens might want to work with a flyer printing company to create handouts for distribution near the store. The flyers could contain a discount coupon or similar offer, to bring new customers to the location.
