Amy Grant was born in Georgia but raised in Nashville where she wrote her first song when she was 12. She had landed a recording contract shortly before she turned 16, and released her self-titled debut album before she graduated from high school. Her career began to take shape with the release of “Age to Age” in 1982.
Although successful as a Christian music artist, Grant wanted to reach a wider audience. In the mid-1980s, she released the album “Unguarded,” and in 1986, her song “The Next Time I Fall,” made it to No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Her true breakthrough came with “Heart in Motion,” the album she released in 1991. The track “Baby Baby” from the album gave her second No. 1 pop hit. She has now sold over 30 million records worldwide, and is the recipient of six Grammy awards, and over 20 Dove Awards.
