Crystal Lake to hold team puzzle competition
Crystal Lake will have a unique team event all about jigsaw puzzles in early November.
The Grand Oaks Recreation Center will be the hosting venue for Puzzlepalooza. This event will be run by The Racket Club. Teams of two or four people will get an opportunity to race to complete a jigsaw puzzle consisting of 500 pieces. Each group will get the same puzzle to finish, making it a fair competition.
Tables will be assigned before the start of the contest. At events like this, participants will often see the event logo design as well as some text referring to the specific teams.
The first group that finishes the piece will be named as the winner, with the race going on until two more are completed. However, if none of the groups are able to complete the puzzle in time, the judges will count the number of pieces not in place, and declare the team with the fewest the winner. In the event of a tie, those teams will have five minutes before the pieces are counted again.
Prizes will be awarded after the first three teams finish. Participants are asked to wear masks, but are able to remove them at their table. Breaks are allowed as needed. While a switch can be made before the start, once the race begins, teams cannot switch out players. Groups will need to pay $30 in order to participate and are asked to bring their own snacks.
The palooza will be on November 6 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
