Crystal Lake ready to clown around
The Raue Center in Crystal Lake is throwing a party—a pity party, in fact.
The Puddles Pity Party brings Puddles the Clown to the Chicago suburb. Puddles is actually Michael Geier, who is an entertainer and singer, and leader of Kingsized, an Atlanta-based band. Geier's alter ego is Puddles, a clown who appears in a Pagliacci-style costume and full makeup. As Puddles, Geier has been performing in videos on YouTube since 2013. He has now begun appearing almost exclusively as the clown.
Puddles has appeared on “America's Got Talent,” and has toured extensively, performing in such well-known venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco's Regency Ballroom. He has also appeared at Edinburgh's famous Fringe Festival, and at the Soho Theatre in London, as well as traveling to Australia, Canada, and Belgium.
Puddles blends pathos with humor, and has been praised for the almost operatic quality of his voice. He often performs cover versions of classics by bands such as Queen, Cheap Trick, David Bowie, and ABBA. Reviews have called him “fantastically brilliant,” “clever and often hysterically funny,” and “Pagliacci by way of Pee-Wee Herman and David Lynch.”
Puddles Pity Party is set for 8:00 pm on December 7. A VIP ticket is available and includes early entrance to the venue, a special serenade by Puddles, a photo op, and exclusive souvenir. Poster printing is often used to publicize events such as this.
