Crystal Lake Park District extends splash pad hours
Two splash pads in Crystal Lake will be open for longer hours, after residents requested more access to the attractions.
One of the two is located at the Crystal Castle in Woodscreek Park, while the other, called Acorn Alley, is in the city.
The two pads are open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, are free, and welcome both visitors and residents. Both are touch activated, and turn off if nobody is using them. In addition, the splash pad at Acorn Alley only comes on when the air temperature is at least 72°F.
The Crystal Castle's splash pad is now open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekdays, and from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturdays and Sundays. The Acorn Alley pad, which can be reached via Walkup Avenue, will be open 11:00 am to 7:00 pm weekdays, and 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Saturdays and Sundays. The new hours will be in effect at both pads for the rest of the season.
In addition, park visitors can enjoy other activities at Woodscreek Park, which was recently renovated. Among the improvements are expanded tennis courts, a water feature, and a second fishing pier.
Park district officials might consider working with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents, announcing the hours for the splash pads.
