Country music kicks off Community Harvest
Bourbon Country, a two-person cover band that plays country music, will be the featured act at a concert to get Crystal Lake's Community Harvest efforts underway.
The band members use acoustic instruments, place an emphasis on extensive harmonies, and bring an intimate feel to their music due to them being a duo.
Attendees can dance to the music, or simply sit and listen to the concert, and they are encouraged to bring food to donate to local food pantries. The items requested are peanut butter, rice, canned fruits, canned meats, canned vegetables, pasta, and chili.
The Crystal Lake Community Harvest is an ongoing joint effort by the Crystal Lake Food Pantry and the city's chamber of commerce to collect food and donations during the fall months. The food is then distributed to needy area residents during the winter season.
Event organizers might consider working with a banner printing company to create a themed banner to display over the door, celebrating the concert and the community's support of the food drive.
The concert will take place tonight, October 2, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Park Place. Park Place is a meeting and banquet facility belonging to the city's park district, and is located at 406 West Woodstock Street. Admission is $5 for all attendees, and the concert is suitable for all ages.
