Costume Gala scheduled for Crystal Lakes Raue Center
The Raue Center in Crystal Lake is getting ready to celebrate Halloween with a costume party that promises to kick off the holiday season with food, drink, and live music.
Richard Kuranda, Raue Center’s executive director, said the facility is excited by the return of the Halloween Costume Gala. He says the party is part dance, part spectacle, and loads of Halloween fun, and it has as its centerpiece the Dead Man’s Carnival. Organizers of events like this can work with a banner printing company to create suitable pieces to use as decorations.
Kuranda is enthusiastic about the interactive events planned, including scavenger hunts, fire jugglers, and costume contests, but seems most excited by the sideshow acts that will be presented by Dead Man’s Carnival.
The Carnival is a variety show featuring live music that pages homage to the old-style entertainment known as vaudeville. Attendees at the gala can expect the Carnival’s performers to present juggling, magic, fire, and aerial feats, along with novelty acts in the style of vaudeville. They will be both on stage, and roaming through the audience, encouraging audience participation and improvisation.
The evening will also feature food provided by 1776 Restaurant, which is part of the farm-to-table movement. Georgio’s Chicago Pizzeria & Pub will also be providing tasty treats. The Halloween Costume Gala is set for October 27, starting at 6:00 pm. Tickets and information are on the center’s website.
