City toasts local business leaders
The Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner has seen the last year's accomplishments of its members celebrated. The high profile event saw the Business of the Year Award go to Georgio's Chicago Pizzeria & Pub.
The award, which is presented in recognition for the company's commercial success, leadership, and community support, honors the memory of a man named Robert O. Covey.
As it ranks among the most popular eateries around and was voted among the country’s best independently-owned pizzerias, Georgio's has been presented many awards over the years, with the Chamber of Commerce saying:
Founded and still managed by Brian Coli, the firm also takes an active role in the Chamber, sponsoring many events through the year and acting as senior board members.
Another award at the networking event, which sees many members launch their new business cards after printing, saw Mayor Aaron Shepley presented with the Carl E. Wehde Award for his inspirational attitude, dedication, and commitment to public service.
Other awards were presented to former president of the chamber Gary Reece; the director of the city's library, Kathryn Martens; and a number of individuals thanked for their contributions through the year.
