Celebrated choir to perform in Crystal Lake
Voices in Harmony is now in its 30th year, and the choir is inviting interested people to join in. They're also getting ready to present summer concerts,
according to a Daily Herald article. As always, the choir welcomes anyone who wants to join in the fun; they require only a placement audition from applicants. A placement audition is used to determine a performer's skill level, so the group knows how best to use his or her talents.
The choir was formed in 1987 as part of the Fourth of July Gala held that year. A community choir made up of various church choirs performed, and Voices in Harmony was born.
Interested singers should be aware that the choir rehearsals begin June 6, and are held every Monday throughout the month. The choir meets at Crystal Lake's Bethany Lutheran Church, and the practices are two hours long, from 7.30 p.m. until 9. 30 p.m.
The choir has two concerts on its schedule, both in Crystal Lake. The first will be given June 28, Tuesday, at the band shell located at Main Beach on Lakeshore Drive. The second is slated for July 3, and will include fireworks. This concert is also at Main Beach, and the Crystal Lake Community Band will perform.
