Barbershop singers coming to Crystal Lake
The barbershop chorus known as the Fox Valley Men of Harmony is presenting two performances of its 70th annual show.
The group performed in Elgin on April 24, and is now coming to sing for residents of Crystal Lake.
This year's shows feature the theme of spiritual music. The chorus will be featured, along with three quartets and Girl's Nite Out, which is a women's ensemble. Refreshments will be served after the show, and more singing will ensue.
The Fox Valley Men of Harmony is a group of men from all walks of life, and of all ages, who share a love of barbershop singing. Any man who is interested is welcome, even if he has never sung in a group in his life; all that is required is an ear for music and an enjoyment the type of close harmony that is the hallmark of barbershop singing. Ages in the group range from teens to men in their 80s.
The chorus will perform this afternoon at 2:30 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, which is located on McHenry Avenue. Tickets are $15 general admission, and $8 for students. Children under the age of five are free.
Event organizers might like to work with a banner printing company to create a fun display to hang in the venue for the show.
