Adventurous option headed for Crystal Lake
A new cable wakeboard park could be headed for the Three Oaks Recreation Area, with the Crystal Lake City Council expected to grant approval.
The construction of the facility, a 32-acre development, could break ground as early as next month if approval is given. It is expected that the plans for the park will be rubber stamped after the city's Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved them.
The proposed Vulkan Cable Park will comprise three separate pylon systems, suited for beginners, intermediate cable wakeboarders, and those at an advanced stage. Connected by cables, riders will be sent hurtling along the water.
The advanced system will also include features such as jumps and turns, in order that the best at the sport can show their true talents.
With banner printing likely to play a big part in creating the right atmosphere for the park, it will also see the development of a clubhouse, parking lot, sand volleyball courts, and a beach area on which people can watch those riding the water.
An on-site restaurant, together with an outdoor patio for both dining and viewing, is also planned. Proposals outline a stage as well, which will be used for live music and events.
The park will be developed towards the southern shore of the Three Oaks north lake. The larger lake will remain in use as a marina and for recreational activities.
