Nampa landscaping company offers workshop
Franz Witte in Nampa will be holding an artistic course in April where students can learn about washi paper.
The Washi Paper Gourd Egg workshop is an educational event taught by Allen Sweeney that introduces attendees to the wonders of Japanese paper. During the activity, students will get to measure, cut, and fit washi paper for their art projects. Each participant will create an egg-shaped decorative gourd. All necessary supplies for the egg-making workshop will be provided to guests, and if time permits, students may get to make a second egg.
Allen Sweeney is a member of the Idaho Gourd Society, which is an organization that unifies and supports those who grow and create art out of gourds. The group meets monthly at the U of I Ag classroom. Club members can participate in meetings, seed exchanges, and public outreach programs. Those in the society will also be taught how to grow gourds, judge shows, and different decorating techniques. Artistic organizations similar to this may promote themselves to others with flyer printing.
The Washi Paper Gourd Egg workshop will be held on Saturday, April 9. The first activity will start at 10:00 am, and the second session will begin at 1:00 pm. The course will cost $25 to attend. People who wish to join the Idaho Gourd Society can pay $15 and fill out a membership form.
