Music Theater of Idaho will present the stage adaptation of Frozen later this month, bringing the Broadway musical version of the animated hit to local audiences.
The production will feature songs by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, including well-known numbers from the film, along with additional material created for live theater.
Set in the fictional Nordic realm of Arendelle, the story follows sisters Anna and Elsa as they navigate isolation, responsibility, and reconciliation. After Elsa’s coronation triggers uncontrollable ice powers, she retreats into the mountains, leaving her kingdom in an unrelenting winter. Anna embarks on a journey to reunite with her sister, joined by ice worker Kristoff, his reindeer Sven, and the snowman Olaf. The musical explores themes of family bonds, identity, and courage through elaborate staging and orchestration.
Organizers say the production will incorporate theatrical effects and ensemble choreography designed to translate the film’s visual spectacle to the stage.
