Nampa festival to showcase artists and crafters

Nampa Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a festival in August where artists can compete for cash awards.

The Nampa Festival of the Arts allows people to browse booths from local creators and interact with talented artists. The festival will take place at Lakeview Park and is organized by the Nampa Art Guild and Nampa Parks and Recreation Department. The event originated in 1986 and attracts more than 18,000 people each year. Approximately 200 creators will be exhibiting their works during the art festival.

Vendors interested in showcasing their wares and competing in the art show can enter into one of six categories, including books, country crafts, entertainment, fine arts, jewelry, and old-world art. Competitors in the festival may earn cash prizes for awards like Honorable Mention, People’s Choice, and Champion. All participants must display their juried creations inside their booths. The items brought to the fest must be handmade by the artisan.

The art festival will take place on Saturday, August 13 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, August 14 between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. People may enter the fest for free. Only assistive animals will be permitted to come to the community festival. Companies interested in sponsoring Nampa’s event can pay between $1,000 to $5,000. Festival coordinators for shows like this may use corporate gifts to thank those who contribute to the fest.
