Union Station in Davenport has been reopened by Visit Quad Cities as a destination for tourists.
The historic building is on S. Harrison Street and was formerly the home of Visit Quad Cities. Visit Quad Cities moved to River Center. When Dave Herrell became CEO of Visit Quad Cities in 2018, he wanted to move back to Union Station, but this was delayed by the events of the past two years. Believing that now is the right time, he stressed that this would be a great place for the headquarters of the organization and there is a great deal of activity in the area.
The space has been renovated and includes a new welcome desk, new outdoor signage, and an interactive wall with a space for visitors to leave recommendations of their favorite places to visit. Other new technology includes an Idea Lab that can be used for community meetings, and charging cubes for laptops and phones. Such spaces provide many opportunities for businesses and attractions in town to leave Flyers, with permission, about their offerings created by local Print shops.
Mike Matson, mayor of Davenport, said that there are many offerings in the city that connect people, and these connections will be enhanced with the tourism center.
The Visitors Center at Union Station is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, and from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturdays.
