The Ecumenical Housing Development Group (EHDG) has received approval to convert an adult day service building on Bridge Avenue in Davenport into affordable housing units that are ADA compliant.
The EHDG purchased the property last year and wants to rezone the building from offering two homes to one that offers three homes. This rezoning will change the building to having three ADA-compliant units, two of which have four bedrooms and one of which will have two bedrooms. This will also reverse an ordinance in case the property is destroyed or demolished.
The EHDG also plans to fully remodel the inside and outside of the property with new windows, brickwork, siding, and a new roof. The EHDG feels this is a great neighborhood and is committed to making this property an ideal place for living. It hopes the families who eventually live in the property will find it to be an outstanding community.
Such updated properties are often promoted throughout a community with flyer and brochure printing to highlight their amenities and features.
The EHDG is a collaborative association of social service agencies, religious institutions, and banking corporations that work together to provide individuals and families of low income with affordable and permanent rental housing.
The plan is to begin renovations in May and then open in the fall.
