TAG, a communications and advertising firm located in downtown Davenport, is planning to expand, and in doing so, will create additional housing in the city.
According to a recent article in the QC Times, Mike Vondran, TAG's CEO and founder, will partner with Bush Construction on a mixed-use development to rise on greenspace adjacent to TAG's current offices.
At first, Vondran planned to simply expand his offices, but says he was “thinking too small.” A.J. Loss, CEO and president of Bush Construction, agrees, saying that when the plans were modified to include the construction of the new building, the entire project became more feasible.
The new structure will be called the TAG Building, and will have parking at ground level on the vacant site. Above that, there will be four levels of housing comprising 82 units to be offered at current market rates. The one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments will rent for about $1,200. There will also be another three stories added to the current TAG offices.
According to Loss, the due diligence period will start now, including soil testing and gathering more investors. He notes that until the developer owns and controls the site, doing any work is very difficult.
Vondran added that people want to live near work, and he is excited to see more housing becoming available in the downtown area.
Projects like this may benefit if developers work with a brochure printing company to create pamphlets illustrating the building's amenities.
