One of the biggest bands in rock is coming to Davenport in a month’s time.
Foreigner will bring their hard rock sound to delight fans in the Midwest. The band formed in 1976, in both London and New York City, since the original founding members included two English musicians—Mick Jones and Ian McDonald—and an American, Lou Gramm. The idea of being “foreigners” in each other's countries, as well as being outsiders in many of the countries where they hoped to perform, led to them adopting the word as their name.
Filling arenas and landing on the charts repeatedly, perhaps Foreigner’s biggest single was “I Want to Know What Love Is”, going to No. 1 on charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Their hit “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” rose to No. 2 on the United States charts, and remained there for 10 weeks, setting a record. Foreigner has sold over 80 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling groups in the world.
Although, as with almost all bands, the lineup has changed and the sound has evolved, a review of a recent concert said the band reminded their audience that age is just a number, noting that:
“Both musically and as a group, they seem tighter than ever.”
Foreigner will be at Davenport's Adler Theatre on March 10, at 7:30 pm. Brochure printing can create programs for this type of event.
