Dave’s Hot Chicken, an international chain serving hot chicken Nashville style, is preparing to establish a Davenport presence.
Bart Coon, an investor who has been successful with three locations of Crumbl Cookies in the Des Moines area, is now looking to expand to chicken. He said that as a customer, he is a big fan of the food, not least because of the concept of different layers of heat from which customers get to choose.
Coon said the Davenport location will keep the same simplicity with the menu. There will be four combination options with seven heat levels, ranging from no spice to “reaper,” which is so intense that those who dare to try it need to sign a waiver.
Chicken will be the focus of the menu, but it will also include sides, milkshakes, and soft drinks, as well as Dave's NOT Chicken adaptation using cauliflower, providing a vegetarian alternative.
Dave’s Hot Chicken started in California in 2017 as a food stand on the street with just one item on the menu. Today, there are over 100 locations of the chain across the country. News of such new eateries and their specialty can be spread throughout a region with flyer printing.
No opening date has been set for the restaurant as yet, although Coon expressed his excitement about getting the restaurant underway.
