Davenport welcomes Prohibition-inspired steakhouse
The Garrison, a steakhouse and speakeasy, is planning to open this month in Davenport.
Endeavor Management Group LLC and Brandon Albertson co-own the establishment. Albertson said the concept of the restaurant is to harken back to the days of Prohibition, with the venue’s name being inspired by this. Garrison is a military term and means to fortify and protect, such that the staff at the establishment during the days of Prohibition would protect the right of its guests to drink.
The main dining room has a large wooden bar in the center, original penny tile flooring, and seats about 120 people. Diners can also eat at high tops and booths as well as private tables. There is a patio outside with seating for close to 90 people.
Each table has jewel-tone accents designed to bring diners back a century. The wait staff and those in the kitchen wear button-down shirts with a vest and cap. The menu will have classics from the 1920s and cocktails designed to complement the menu.
Poster printing is often used to promote such new establishments and their unique concepts in dining.
The restaurant is in the Common Cloud building on West 2nd Street and will open on Saturday, October 14. The speakeasy will be open Wednesday through Saturday, while the hours of the restaurant will be from 11:00am. to 11:00 pm every day.
