Davenport to host monarch tagging event

Nahant Marsh Education Center in Davenport will be holding their Monarch Release Party for the seventh year later this month.

The party will enable participants to help scientists track monarch butterflies by tagging them before they migrate to Mexico. The monarchs being tagged were collected from eggs cared for by experienced and enthusiastic lovers of monarchs in the community. Attendees will also be able to walk the trails and search for migrating monarchs.

In addition, there will be crafts, a native plant sale, educational activities, and story time. A bake sale and goodwill snack area will be at the event for those that need a treat. Proceeds from these sales will go towards the Friends of Nahant Marsh.

Flyers often play a major role in how organizations such as this one promote their special events. Local businesses that specialize in flyer printing can help in such advertising and marketing endeavors.

The Waste Commission of Scott County is sponsoring the event. Partners of the event include the Monarch Rescue Team of the Quad Cities and the Quad City Chapter of Wild Ones, which promotes landscaping practices that are environmentally sound to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities.

This event will take place on Saturday, September 10, starting at 9:00 am and continuing until noon.
