QCCVB's president, Joe Taylor, says the information agency has been in Union Station for 22 years, and moving will mean it will have to downsize. However, he says that part of the reason for leaving is so that a restaurant can go into the station, which means the bureau is doing its job:
“bringing in more visitors who need restaurants!”
Relocating to RiverCenter will also make the bureau more visible to hotels and other venues in Davenport's downtown. The RiverCenter has 100,000 square feet of space that can be configured to meet any need. City officials are already looking for a new tenant to take over the space in Union Station; they will pay market rate.
Taylor believes the move will be finished some time in September.
Efforts like this can benefit if officials work with a newsletter printing company to create a newsletter for a targeted Mailing, explaining the move and its benefits.
