Davenport opens funding for commercial and residential improvements

The Davenport DREAM Project and Commercial DREAM Project are now accepting applications for funding.

Money is invested into the heritage neighborhoods of the city by DREAM which provides grants to existing and new homeowners to make improvements to the exteriors of their properties. Eligible property owners can improve the condition of mixed-use, industrial, and commercial buildings affected by blight through Commercial DREAM grants.

Flyer printing can be used to inform residents and commercial property owners of such available funding.

Funding for this round has increased by $425,000 as two new neighborhoods became eligible for this funding. These are the Ridgeview East neighborhood near W. 76th and Division Streets and the residential area around the Village of East Davenport. The total available amount is now $1.3 million and will enable 16 more projects to be funded.

Scoring on a competitive basis is done for the applications from homeowners. Outstanding code violations and exterior façade improvements are given preference. The Rockingham Road commercial corridor from Ricker Hill Road to Division Street is the focus of the Commercial DREAM Project. Property owners in this area who are eligible to receive a grant will be notified by mail with more details about the program and how to apply. Applications will be accepted until September 30.

Homeowners can apply on a rolling basis and will be notified if they receive a grant by December 2026.
