The smash Broadway musical ‘Kinky Boots’ is on its way to Davenport's Adler Theatre to give residents a chance to try on some fantastic footwear.
Cyndi Lauper, who has won both a Tony and a Grammy award, wrote the songs for Kinky Boots. The story is about an ordinary man named Charlie Price who inherits a shoe factory from his father. The factory is about to close, but Charlie wants to save both the business and the legacy of his father.
When a drag queen named Lola comes to him and asks if he can make fabulous shoes for her to use in her performances, Charlie turns from making ordinary footwear to manufacturing more glamorous ones. Along the way, Charlie faces opposition from his workers who walk away, leaving him without anything to present at an important fashion show.
An earlier performance, scheduled for January 30 of this year, was canceled. Tickets for that date will be honored at the upcoming show, while those who would prefer a refund should take their tickets back to the original point where they purchased them as soon as possible. If there are questions, the box office number at the Adler is 563-326-8522. Poster printing is often used at events like this, as fans frequently enjoy buying them as souvenirs.
Kinky Boots will have one performance only, at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, June 19, at Davenport's Adler Theatre. Tickets start at $61.
